Circling Edging

A TRULY different and most attractive wide edging that is made by working back and forth without turning after each row. You will need a ball of number 30 mercerized crochet cotton in white or the color of your choice and a number 12 steel crochet hook.

Abbreviations:

Ch (chain) lp (loop)

Sl st (slip stitch) sk (skip)

Sc ( single crochet) st (stitch)

Dc ( double crochet) sl lp (slip loop)


Row 2: Working back toward the circle edge, ch 10, a sl lp joining in the 5th st of next ch 9, (ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9, ( ch 9, s sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9) twice, (ch 14,a sl lp joining in 7th ch st from hook, ch 3, sk 2 ch sts, a sl lp joining in next ch 9, 5 dc in ring, ch 4, a sl lp joining in 15th dc of completed circle) a

Half circle made, ( ch 14, a sl lp joining in 7th ch st from hook, ch 3, sk 2 ch sts, a sl lp joining next st, 18 dc in ring, sl st in same ch st with last sl lp joining) a completed circle made. Working back toward the ch lp edge, ch 9, sl st in last dc of half circle, 9 dc in same circle, sl st in same ch st with next sl lp joining, ( ch9, sc in 5th st of next ch lp) 3 times.

Row 3: Working back toward circle edge, ch 10, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9, make a half circle as in ro2 2, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9, ch 9, a sl lp joining 15th dc on completed circle as in row 2. Working back toward ch lp edge, ( ch 9, sc in 5th st of next ch 9 ) twice, ch 9, sl st in top of last dc in same circle, sl st in next sl lp joining, (ch9, sc in 5th ch st of next ch lp) twice.

Row 4: Working back toward circle edge, ch 10, a sl lp joining in 5th ch of next ch lp, make a half circle as in row 2, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th of next ch lp, make a

half circle as before, except to join the ch 4 to 5th ch st of next ch 9 instead of completed circle, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th dc of completed circle, make a completed circle as in row 2. Working back toward ch lp edge, (ch 9, sc in 5th st of next ch lp, ch 9, sl st in last dc of next half circle, 9 dc in same half circle, sl st in next sl lp joining) twice, ch 9 in 5th st of next ch lp.

Row 5: Working back toward circle edge, ch 10, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch lp, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch lp, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 15th dc of next circle, make a half circle as in row 2, except to join the ch 4 to 5th st of next ch 9 instead of completed circle, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 15th dc of next circle, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9, (ch 14, a sl lp joining in 7th ch st from hook, ch 3, ck 2 ch sts, a sl lp joining in next st, 4 dc in ring, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch 9, 14 dc in same ring, a sl lp in same st with adjacent sl lp joining) a joined completed circle made

Row 6: Working back toward circle edge, ch 10, a sl lp joining in 5th of next ch lp, ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch lp, ch 9, a sl lp joiing in 15th dc of next circle, make a half circle as in row 2, make a joined completed circle as in row 5. Working back toward ch lp edge, ch 9, sl st in last dc of half circle, 9 dc in same circle, sl st in same ch st with next sl lp joining, ( ch 9, sc in 5th ch st of next ch lp) 3 times.

Row 7: Working back toward circle edge, ch 10, a sl lp joining in 5th st of next ch lp, ( ch 9, a sl lp joining in 5th of next circle, make a joiner completed circle as in row 5. Working back toward ch lp edge, (ch 9, sc in 5th st of next ch lp) 4 times.

Repeat rows 2 through 7 for desired length. Fasten off.
