Knitted Scarf No. 376 by The American Thread Company

11 inches x 45 inches

MATERIALS REQUIRED:American Thread Company “Dawn” 3 Fold Saxony Yarn. 4 Balls No. 1834 Camel’s Hair.
3 Balls No. 1838 Wood Brown
1 Pair Steel Knitting Needles No. l
Gauge – Pattern: 19 sts – 2 inches. 24rows – 2 inches.

With Wood Brown, cast on 100 sts, and K 3 ribs (2 rows form 1 rib).
Then K 8 ribs Camel’s Hair, 5 ribs Wood Brown, 1 rib Camel’s Hair, 2 ribs Wood Brown, 1 rib Camel’s Hair, 5 ribs Wood Brown, 8 ribs Camel’s Hair, 14 ribs Wood Brown, 2 ribs Camel’s Hair, 4 ribs Wood Brown.
This completes the border.
Attach Camel’s Hair K one row and begin pattern. K 10, P 10, repeat to end of row and repeat row for 2 inches.
Next Row: P 10, K I0, repeat to end of row and repeat row for 2 inches then repeat from beginning 7 times, K one row and work border.
FRINGE: 1 sc in first st, draw up a loop on hook to 4 inch length, keep loop on hook, 1 sc in next st, draw up a loop
same length, continue across row, always keeping one or two loops on hook to gauge length of next loop. Cut loops the desired length.

Gauge – 9 sts – l inch 13 rows – l inch

Cast on 100 sts, K one row.
2nd Row: K 1 st, P 1 st, repeat to end of row.
3rd Row: P 1 st, K 1 st, repeat to end of row. These 2 rows form the seed st pattern and are repeated for 2 inches and on 20 sts on either side of scarf and for 2 inches at end of scarf.
The following directions are given for the 60 center sts, the border will not be referred to again.
1st Row: K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10.
2nd Row: P 1, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 9.
3rd Row: K 8, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 2.
4th Row: P 3, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 7.
5th Row: K 6, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 4.
6th Row: P 5, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 5.
7th Row: K 4, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 6.
8th Row: P 7, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 3.
9th Row: K 2, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 8.
10th Row: P 9, K 10, P 10, K 10, P 10, K 10, P l.
Repeat from the 1st row, purling the Knitted stitches and Knitting the Purl sts, then repeat from beginning until scarf measures 43 inches then work 2 inch seed st border.
